We're pledging 10% of the profits from Pie Pre-Sales to benefit Coalition of Immokalee Workers – The Coalition of Immokalee Workers (CIW) is a worker-based human rights organization internationally recognized for its achievements in fighting human trafficking and gender-based violence at work. The CIW is also recognized for pioneering the design and development of the Worker-driven Social Responsibility paradigm, a worker-led, market-enforced approach to the protection of human rights in corporate supply chains.

We acknowledge the history of Thanksgiving holds deep roots in colonization of Indigenous people's lands and enslavement of these people on this continent, and beyond. Our café is located on ancestral lands of Tocobaga. Tocobaga lived on these lands from 900 to the 1500s. In approximately 1528, a Spanish explorer arrived in the area. These people brought disease and violence to the tribe's peaceful existence. As a result, the Tocobaga died out completely within the next 100 years. We aim to be mindful of our place within this colonialist system – especially since coffee is historically a product of colonialism and slavery as well. Let us come together to celebrate Indigenous communities and ensure there is no erasure of the identity and importance of Indigenous people. They will lead our fragile planet into the future. Here is a resource on land reparations and Indigenous solidarity.
We look forward to giving back during this holiday season to CIW because they actively are making strides towards human rights for those who work hard to put food on our tables – all within a broken food system that often puts corporate profits over human rights.
Personally, we relish any opportunity to gather with loved ones over a meal. It's one of our favorite aspects of life. We try our best in our little corner of the world to put together intentional food experiences for you all to enjoy, to take care of each other as a team, minimize waste when possible, source locally, prioritize small business vendors, and give back to our community and beyond however we can. Times are certainly hard, with rising costs in all areas of life.

Thank you, friends. We know spending your hard-earned dollars is not an easy choice, and there's a lot of expectation for spending this holiday season. When you support a small business, you help us continue to grow so we can create jobs for passionate people, sustain them, and provide upward mobility within the service industry in our hometown. We carefully balance accessibility in pricing our goods, while also ensuring our team receives living wages. Your dollars are staying here, to support talented individuals who work hard to bring your delicious experiences. We thank you for your support, always.
